Academic Integrity and The Dangers of Contract Cheating
Academic Integrity
Ethical conduct and academic integrity and honesty are fundamental to the mission of APIC and academic misconduct will not be tolerated by the College. It is the responsibility of every student to make sure that they understand what constitutes academic misconduct and to refrain from engaging in it.
Please refer to APIC’s Academic Integrity Policy and Procedure for full details.
What is Academic Integrity?
Academic Integrity is defined within APIC’s Academic Integrity Policy and Procedure as actions aligned with values of honesty, trust, fairness, respect, and responsibility in learning, teaching, and research.

APIC students must:
-
submit only original work which properly acknowledges the ideas, designs, words, or works of others;
-
not submit another person's work as their own;
-
not purchase or commission work and submit as if it were their own;
-
not submit work created with the assistance of others, except in the case of collaboration in connection with group work assessment;
-
not use generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools contrary to guidelines published on the College website and in relevant college documentation (e.g. unit outlines);
-
submit an electronic copy of any assessment through APIC's text-matching software;
-
declare that work submitted for an assessment is their own through the Academic Integrity Declaration;
-
use the acknowledgement practice methods that are appropriate for their field of study;
-
not lend, or allow to be otherwise provided, their original work to other students for any reason except collaboration in connection with group work assessment; and
-
encourage other students to uphold the principles of academic integrity and professional honesty.

How to recognise contract cheating services?
Scams involving assessment help are increasing and many students have been targeted. These companies pretend to be legitimate study assistance and can look very professional and helpful; however, they are illegal and should not be trusted. They may contact you through:
-
Posters and flyers near your campus advertising essay writing and other services.
-
Social media messages on Messenger, WhatsApp, or Instagram.
-
Online advertisements on websites.
-
Emails after you apply for a job.

-
the longer the stronger - use a "passphrase" or 4 or more random words that you will remember
-
don't use any personal information i.e. words and dates that relate to you
-
don't use the same password for all of your accounts
Academic Integrity Module (AIM)
The Academic Integrity Module (AIM) provides students with information about their academic integrity responsibilities, the importance of proper acknowledgement and referencing, and how to avoid plagiarism and other types of academic misconduct. To successfully complete the module, students must complete the AIM quiz and achieve a score of 100%. Students may repeat the AIM and quiz as many times as needed until successfully completed.
As per APIC’s Academic Integrity Policy and Procedure all commencing students are required to complete the AIM within the first three weeks of their first study period. The AIM is accessible from the Dashboard of your Canvas account (APIC’s Online Learning System).
Academic Integrity Misconduct Breaches
APIC classifies academic integrity breaches into three levels according to the seriousness of the breach. Section 8 of APIC's Academic Policy defines the three breaches levels and describes the associated processes and penalties for academic integrity breaches.

Students have the right of appeal the finding and/or penalty for a finding of academic misconduct.
